It has been determined that a caregiver did not demonstrate competency and good judgment by not following the bottle identification procedures when feeding a breastmilk bottle to an infant. Bottles are labeled, color-coded for each child, stored in labeled trays for each child, and breastmilk bottles are placed in baggies in the refrigerator for further distinction. Failure to follow procedures resulted in a child being fed the wrong bottle that contained breastmilk, an exposure to a body fluid, placing the child at risk.
